Indian Army gets its biggest donation from a social worker in Pune

Pune, Sep 9, 2019 : Dr Prem Daryanani, an elderly social worker of South Mumbai and head of Radha Kalindas Daryanani Trust, has taken the initiative of giving his ownership land to the army. On this land, Maharashtra’s first and countries second Army Law College will be expanded at Kanhe on the Old Mumbai-Pune highway.

Daryanani, who has a passion for military service, has donated this for the second time through the trust. He is known as the largest individual donor to the army on a personal level in the country.

A foundation stone for commencement of Phase-II of Army Law College, Kanhe, Pune was laid by Lieutenant General SK Saini, in the presence of Dr. Prem Daryanani, Trustee, Radha Kaliandas Daryanani Charitable Trust (RKDCT), Military and Civil dignitaries, College Faculty, Staff and Students of Army Law College. RKDCT, has gifted six acres of land and 12 buildings to the Army as a noble gesture to honor the unflinching loyalty, sincerity, dedication and sacrifice made by Armed Forces personnel in the service to the nation.

Daryanani has donated 12 buildings and six acres of land worth Rs 40 crores. With this land and building, Army Law College, Pune, will be expanded and students of second and third year will get the opportunity to study. There are only two colleges for army people in the country. The first one Mohali was built several years ago in Chandigarh, while the second college was built in Kanhe, about 45 km, from Pune in collaboration with Daryaani Trust. It has already had a successful year of operation.

Lieutenant General SK Saini, GOC-in-C, Southern Command, said that the army is always ready for the country and in this way the morale of the army increases manifold by the common people joining hands with the army. He thanked Prem Daryani and Trust for helping the army and said that more people like this should come forward.

Daryanani, head of the Radha Kalindas Daryanani Trust, said that the main purpose of this donation is to show gratitude to the Indian Army, who have sacrificed their lives to deal with the external and internal enemies of the country. Indian Army personnel are always vigilant at the border, facing every threat. They bet on their lives so that we can be safe. Even when there is a crisis of any natural or human disaster on the country, they are always ready to help.

Daryanani believes that the courage of the Indian army who sacrificed for the country is indomitable and incomparable. We citizens also have a responsibility to contribute for them. It is only in this spirit that it is time for the common public to become aware of this. It is our duty that we stand with the soldiers and their families. Every Indian, whether individual or corporate or social organization, has an obligation to imbibe the spirit of being connected with the Indian Army so that the Army is confident that The entire country is united with him.

The Army Law College, Pune, was inaugurated on 16 July 2018 at Kanhe, on the old Pune – Mumbai highway. The Army Law College is a residential institute affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, offering five years integrated BBA LLB course. This is the second professional college to be established in Pune, under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society, after the Army Institute of Technology. The institution aims to prepare students to pursue a career at the Bar, Judicial Services, Armed Forces, Civil Services, Corporate Houses and other reputed organisations. The infrastructure being constructed in Phase II would be State of the Art and Eco-friendly consisting of an Academic Block, Administrative Block, Auditorium with 500 seating capacity, Boys Hostel and a Girls Hostel. .
