Bengaluru, December 13, 2016: The “Flat 100% Cashback” sale by FreeCharge concluded yesterday amid much fanfare, scripting a huge success story for its merchant network as well as its consumers. With massive user acceptance, FreeCharge has now established a new category of “Cashfree Festivals”, which will open a new chapter in the fast growing digital wallets landscape.
The exciting online and offline deals saw more than 300,000 new wallets being created just during the 2-day sale period. The existing and new users utilised the 100% Cashback offers on everyday needs like food delivery, grocery purchases and at fuel stations. It also drove impulse purchases on travel and entertainment categories such as movie tickets.
The highest growth on Day 2 came from petrol pumps – wallet usage went up nearly 15 times from its daily levels, bearing a testimony to the aggressiveness of the 100% cashback offer on fuel refill payments. Food delivery continued to drive strong usage, with meals ordered using FreeCharge trending at 10 times of normal days.
Merchants like HPCL, Heritage Foods, Cafe Coffee Day, McDonald’s, Swiggy, Domino’s, Zomato, freshmenu, redBus, Abhibus, goibibo, jugnoo, Bookmyshow&Snapdeal saw consistently high FreeCharge usage during the sale period.
