INDO-JAPAN BUSINESS COUNCIL TO HOST BUSINESS FESTIVAL IN PUNE

Pune: 5th October, 2018: The Indo-Japan Business Council (IJBC), is hosting KONNICHI WA PUNE – a first of its kind business festival in Pune on 17th & 18thNovember, 2018. The festival aims to boost investment, promote businesses and cultural exchange between India and Japan.

The festival will provide a platform to initiate person to person engagement to build new bridges as well as exchanging innovative ideas for improved business outcome between India and Japan, Asia’s two vibrant democracies.

“The Government of Japan highly appreciates the efforts being taken by IJBC and people of Pune for having long-term relationship with Japanese companies through ‘Konnichi wa Pune festival’. This year marks the initial start of it and I feel privileged to inaugurate the same. I wish that more and more Indian and Japanese companies will join, meet up in this event and be able to interact with one another and make new business relations,”opined Consul-General, Mr. Ryoji Noda, Consul-General of Japan in Mumbai.

“India and Japan share a larger story of friendly exchanges. The trade ties have been strengthening and bilateral trade between the two nations is expected to reach US$50 billion by fiscal year 2019-20. Through “Konnichi Wa Pune”, we aim to provide a platform for businesses, industry leaders, academia, and community to develop new partnerships, enhance trade and advance cultural bond between the two countries,” said Mr. Shrikant Atre, President, Indo-Japan Business Council.

 

“Maharashtra is very important market for Japan. In the last few years, Japanese companies have made large amount of investment in Maharashtra, including Pune. We expect more companies to make further investment in this significant market” said Dr. Deepak Tilak, Vice Chancellor of Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune.

“In the Japanese language education field, Pune has become a major center and has produced over 24000 bilingual Japanese experts in past 50 years. This festival is a major stepping stone not only for all students but it would be a good opportunity for the companies which are looking for skilled people,” further added Dr. Tilak.

The festival will also include wide variety of educational, cultural and culinary events such as art exhibition, live performances, literary programs, workshop, round-table talks, popular cuisine and music.
