Industry 4.0 lab unveiled at KIAMS, Pune

Pune, October 19, 2019: The progressive revolution of Industry 4.0 has been a much-needed shot in the arm for the future of smart manufacturing. To meet the industry need, the Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies, Pune has set up a Center of Excellence for Disruptive Innovation and Industry 4.0 lab – SUMAN – (Sustainable Universal Manufacturing Augmented Node). This Centre was inaugurated today at the hands of Suman Kirloskar and Atul Kirloskar, President of Governing Council KIAMS. With addition of this Lab, KIAMS has now a unique distinction of having Data Analytics Lab; Industry 4.0 Lab and Start Up Incubation Centre at the campus.

The Industry 4.0 lab is established in association with C4i4 lab (Centre for Industry 4.0), which is one of the four Centres set up by Department of Heavy Industries, Government of India to help Indian industry be better prepared for the technology revolution. The lab will be engaged in promoting industry 4.0 and will be providing training programs and consulting in areas of technology disruption, data analytics and digital transformation. The lab will give opportunity for students and faculty to work on live industrial projects in areas of disruptive innovation and will also hold awareness workshops for industry professionals and faculty members.

Dignitaries including, Dr. L.K. Tripathy, Director, KIAMS, Pune, Prof. Pankaj Roy Gupta, Programme Director, Business Analytics and Corporate Relations, KIAMS, Pune, Dattatraya Navalgundkar, Director, Samarth Udyog Technology Forum, Aditya Pranjape , COO, Kloudq Technologies, R. R. Deshpande, MD and CEO, Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd, Amarshekhar Bhonagiri, Vice President of the Governing Council, KIAMS and Dr. Bidyanand Jha, Associate Dean, KIAMS were present at the occassion.

Speaking on the inauguration, Atul Kirloskar said, “With the establishment of the lab, students and industry will be able to come together to understand the practical implementation of Industry 4.0 and gain insights into improved production efficiencies, reduction in time and cost through better data management .The lab will provide much needed assistance to industry in training professionals to incorporate technology driven manufacturing”

Dattatraya Navalgundkar said, “The lab will also facilitate students and provide analytic tools for them to learn. Also, the industry professionals will be able to interact with students and offer ideas for projects.”
