Jammu and Kashmir police formed special investigation team to interrogate terrorists

Jammu, January 15, 2020: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to interrogate the accused DySP Davinder Singh and the terrorists caught with him. This team will also investigate old cases in which Davinder has allegedly supported the terrorists.

Jammu and Kashmir Police issued a statement on Tuesday, saying that DySP Davinder Singh, who was caught with the terrorists, has not received the President’s Award or any honor from the Union Home Ministry. He was given a gallantry award by the state of Jammu and Kashmir only on the occasion of Independence Day in 2018.

“DySP Davinder Singh is not awarded any Gallantry or Meritorious Medal by MHA as has been reported by some media outlets/persons only gallantry medal awarded to him during his service is by the erstwhile J&K State on Independence Day 2018 for his participation in countering a Fidayeen Attack by Terrorists at District Police Lines Pulwama on 25/26 Aug 2017 when he was posted there as DySP District Police Lines Pulwama”, statement reads.

The police spokesperson said that “Jammu Kashmir Police is known for its professionalism & doesn’t spare anyone including its own cadres if found involved in any unlawful act or unbecoming conduct.”

The statement further added, “We have done it in the past in many cases and now in this particular case where it has caught its own officer on its own input and action and would continue to abide by our code of conduct and the Law of the Land which is same for everyone. A special investigation team is handling interrogation of the arrested accused officer and the terrorists which would probe his criminal conduct in the instant case and his involvement in any such criminal acts in the past.”
