Karan Singh, Priyanka Chourkar the winners for the 10K Marathon run

Pune, 10th September 2017: Karan Singh and Priyanka Chourkar clocked impressive timings of 32.5 mins and 41.56 mins respectively in the men’s and women’s category to win the inaugural run of the Pune leg of the 10K INTENCITY Run amidst a huge gathering at the Balewadi Complex, Pune on Sunday.

The Pune run had its own glitz and glamour quotient with a range of sports personalities from different fields coupled with a huge participation of the local Pune crowd. The Pune run also boasted international runners from Europe, South Korea and from the African continent. Moreover, the Pune police sent their personnel to participate in the run to promote ‘A Green and Healthy Pune City’.

Prominent personalities and former Olympians like ace shooter and Commonwealth Gold medalist Anjali Bhagwat, former Wrestler Kaka Pawar, Vice-President, Maharashtra Olympic Association Prahlad Sawant flagged off the race along with MLA Bhimrao Tapkir. The Run also had Leelamma Alphonso, a national level veteran runner who ran in the senior category.

Speaking at the event, Anjali Bhagwat said she wholeheartedly supported the cause of the event as the proceeds from charity would go to the Olympians and sportspersons in India which would help them promote the sports in different parts of the country. “This is a great concept and it is good that it is been taken to different parts of India. I laud the Pune crowd who came early in the morning to support the cause of a Green, Healthy India. I hope that with the same enthusiasm this movement takes a bigger shape over the next few weeks.”

This event has received tremendous support from the Athletics Federation of India. The 10KINTENCITY run which started from Pune, received a huge response and the run now moves to the second leg in Indore on 1st October 2017. The winners for 10K INTENCITY Run received Rs 35,000, 25,000 and 10,000 as prize money.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anand Menezes, Ex-Olympian, Founder & Director, Andy Event Management said, “It was a successful event and I on behalf of Andy Event Management thank the sportspersons who are part of this movement. I thank Puneites who came in large numbers and have pledged to keep the nation Green and Healthy. We aim to replicate the same success during our Indore leg on 1st October 2017.”

The 10KINTENCITY Run, through the support of the Indian Olympians Association (An association of former Olympians), who are our official charity partner will be the recipient of our money generated which will be disbursed to former and current Olympians along with aspiring sportspersons so that money can be ploughed back in creating a sound infrastructure system which will not only inspire existing sportspersons but also create future Olympians of our country.

The 10KINTENCITY run that started from Pune will be followed by Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Baroda, Delhi and will culminate on 11th February 2018 in Goa. The total prize money for the winners of the 10K INTENCITY Run across cities is Rs. 50 lacs.
