Karnataka eyes on attracting investments – Meets Industry in Pune

8th September 2017, Pune : Government of Karnataka aims to leverage on the technology & manufacturing prowess to attain a position of leadership and excellence in manufacturing and overall industrial development. In this regard, Government of Karnataka is organizing Vendor Development & Investors Summit on 23nd and 24th November 2017 at BIEC, Bengaluru. The summit will act as a common platform for CPSUs, SPSUs, Mega and Large units in identifying vendors of their choice in terms of production capacity and quality standards. This meet will also help MSMEs understand the need of the OEMs. In addition, this programme will benefit MSMEs in planning their production and product diversification.

More importantly, the Summit will facilitate the participating companies in exploring the investment opportunities in the State of Karnataka and firm up their new/expansion investment proposals with the State Government in terms of project approvals or MOUs.

To promote the event among Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) & MSME’s, Hon’ble Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development along with Senior Level Official Delegation visited Pune today. During the afternoon the delegation met with some of the key industries from Pune to invite them to participate in the event and to discuss their interest in expanding their business in Karnataka. The delegation had B2G meetings with 14 companies covering various sectors.

Hon’ble Minister met Mr Baba Kalyani, CMD, Bharat Forge Ltd,             Mr Shishir Joshipura, Managing Director, SKF India Ltd; Mr Suhas Kadlaskar Director, Mercedes Benz; Mr Sanjay Bohra, CFO, Force Motors Ltd; Mr. M S Unnikrishnan, Managing Director & CEO, Thermax Ltd; Mr Nitin Chalke, Managing Director, Eaton Technologies Pvt Ltd; Mr Shrikant Badre, Chairman, Badve Group; Mr Gurpratap Boparai, CEO, Fiat India Automobiles Pvt Ltd; besides others.

During the meetings, Hon’ble Minister discussed with the companies the support and facilitation provided by Government of Karnataka for implementation of their projects in the state. He also invited them to participate in the forthcoming “Vendor Development & Investors’ Summit 2017” in Bangalore.

In the evening, the government had organised a Road Show and presented the manufacturing Eco system of the State to the large audience present. More than 150 industry representatives and prospective investors participated in during the Road Show.

Hon’ble Minster in his address stated that Government is focused on providing momentum for imaging itself as the most industry friendly state in the country. While focusing on the growth, we are taking cautious steps to ensure that the development would not have adverse effects on the environment, people and the ecosystem. He also outlined the potential for investments in various sectors in the state; viz., Aerospace & Defence Equipment Manufacturing, Automobiles, Auto components & Electric Vehicles manufacturing, Biotech, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, Agriculture & Food Processing and Machinery, Textile and Apparels and Innovation & Start-ups among others.

Mr. D V Prasad, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government Of Karnataka, in his address emphasised on the initiatives undertaken by the state to develop the ecosystem for the overall industrial development; with special focus on the MSME sectors.

Mr. Deepak Sood, CEO, Invest Karnataka Forum, made a detailed presentation during the roadshow on “Enabling Manufacturing Ecosystem of Karnataka.”

Mr. Kamal Bali, Chairman, CII Karnataka & President & MD, Volvo Group India, Mr. T S Jaishankar, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd, Dr. N Muthu Kumar, President & Whole Time Director, Automotive Axles Ltd, Mr. Niteen Inamdar Chief Operating Officer, Sigma Electric Manufacturing Corporation Pvt Ltd shared their experience of doing business in Karnataka with the audience of the Road Show. Mr. Nitin Chalke, Chairman, CII Pune & Managing Director Eaton Technologies Pvt Ltd was also present in the Roadshow.
