LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY HELD AT COLLEGE OF NURSING, AFMC

Pune – Lamp Lighting Ceremony of 40 Nursing Cadets of the 52nd batch of College of Nursing (CON), Armed Forces Medical College was held on 07th Nov 2017. The Ceremony was attended by Senior AMC Officers, MNS Officers, Civilian Nurses and parents of Nursing Cadets.

Air Marshal CK Ranjan AVSM, VSM, Director & Commandant, was the Chief Guest. Maj Gen Elizabeth John, Additional Director General, Military Nursing Service (ADGMNS) was the Guest of honour. She is the first Alumna of CON to head the Military Nursing Service. 

 

Brig Leena Kumari PR, Principal, College of Nursing, presented a brief report of the College. After the traditional lamp lighting, the Principal passed the light to faculty members, who then passed it to the Nursing Cadets. Passing the light symbolizes the transfer of knowledge, wisdom, dedication and dignity from teachers to the taught. The Nurses pledge was also administered to the students.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Air Marshal CK Ranjan emphasized the importance of upholding the professional standards set by Florence Nightingale who was an epitome of devotion, sacrifice and commitment. He felicitated meritorious students with awards. Lt Gen KS Master Memorial Silver Medals were awarded to Nursing Cadets Seema,  Annie Dine and Anagha T for coming first in 1st, 2nd, 3rdyear Basic BSc Nursing examination conducted by MUHS respectively. Capt Manisha Rai was awarded Silver Jubilee Rolling Trophy, Certificate of Merit and Brig Shukla Trust Award for best outgoing Post Basic BSc Trainee Officer. Maj Preethamol Babu of MH Kirkee was awarded.  The Mannakal Trust Award for being adjudged as the best ICU Nurse.
