Ranchi, January 24, 2016: Ranchi turned festive. One could see tricolor everywhere, roads, vehicles, buildings and hands. It was neither Independence Day nor Republic Day. The reason was the hoisting of world’s biggest tricolour at Pahari Mandir in Ranchi on Saturday.

On the auspicious occasion of 119th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Ranchi witnessed the country’s highest and biggest National flag hoisting by Defence Minister Manohar Parikar, Jharkhand Governor Mrs. Draupadi Murmu & Chief Minister Mr. Raghubar Das.CZZOJeSUsAEXgoX

The dimensions include 66×99 feet flag, 493 feet above surface on a 293 feet mast. The mast was made in 40 days by Mecon, a public sector undertaking under the ministry of steel, based in Ranchi.

The majestic flag hoisting event drew people at the foot-hills of Pahari Mandir as well as on roof-tops where they stood to capture the patriotic moment in cameras.

Loudspeakers boomed with patriotic songs atop the hill where many people appeared in flag-painted face while others wore stickers of Indian flags.
