Leopard skin, nails seized in Junnar

Junnar, June 19 – Pune rural police on Sunday seized skin and nails of a grown leopard totally worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from three persons.

The accused had come looking for a customer in Pimpari Pendhar village, about 100 km from Pune, in Junnar taluka of the district.

Police senior inspector Ram Jadhav, in-charge of the LCB, had received tip-off and laid a trap at the village in the jurisdiction of Otur police station.

The arrested accuseds have been identified as Balu Gavaba Madhe (25), Somnath Sukhdev Madhe (28), both residents Pimpaldare Chas from the Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district and Suryakant Shantaram (32), a resident of Masvandi from Sangamner taluka of Ahmednagar district.

The arrested persons have been charged for offences under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, and Indian Penal Code (IPC). They will be produced before the court on Monday.

Investigation team which nabbed the trio included Police Sub Inspector Mohan More, ASI Vasant Ambre, constables Sharad Bhamble, Vishal Salunke, Shafi Shiledar, Chandrashekhar Magar and Vighnahar Gade.
