Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari reads oath in Marathi
Mumbai, 5th Sept 2019 : Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Bhagat Singh Koshyari was sworn in as the Governor of Maharashtra on Thursday (5th Sept).
Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Justice Pradeep Nandrajog administered the oath of office to Koshyari at the sea-facing Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.
In a surprise to all invitees, Koshyari read out his entire Oath in Marathi.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Heavy Industries Arvind Sawant, Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, Minister of Revenue and Public Works, Government of Maharashtra Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education Vinod Tawde, Minister of PWD Eknath Shinde, Minister of Industries Subhash Desai, Minister of Transport Diwakar Raote, Minister of Social Justice Dr Suresh Khade, Ministers from Uttarakhand- Forest Minister H.S. Rawat, Agricultural Minister Subodh Uniyal, State Minister Rekha Arya and Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Ministers of State from Maharashtra and invitees attended the ceremony.
The largely attended swearing in ceremony began with the playing of the National Anthem by the Police Band.
State Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta then read out the warrant of appointment of Koshyari issued by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
After the reading of the oath by the Governor, the ceremony concluded with the playing of the National Anthem once again.
Lokayukta of Maharashtra Justice M L Tahiliyani, Right to Services Commissioner Swadhin Kshatriya, State Chief Election Commissioner U P S Madan, Director General of Police Subodh Jaiswal, Commissioner of Police Sanjay Barve, Principal Secretary Protocol Nandkumar, Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai Dr Suhas Pednekar, Vice Chancellor of SNDT Women’s University Dr Shashikala Wanjari were prominent among those present.
Koshyari greets people on Teachers’ Day
Soon after taking oath as the 19th Governor of Maharashtra, Koshyari extended his greetings and good wishes to all teachers on the occasion of ‘Teachers’ Day. Incidentally, Koshyari has served as teacher at a College in Etah (UP) for some time.
