Major tourist points closed in Mahableshwar due to heavy rains

Satara: After continuous heavy rains in Mahableshwar, forest department officials have closed the scenic location for tourists for the next few days.

There has been over 240 mm rain on Thursday. In the last three days there has been over 800 mm rains in the area.

The incessant rain has led to landslide, cracks in houses, roads. The rains have thrown life out of gear.

Therefore the forest department officials have closed Mahableshwar for tourists.

Suryakant Kulkarni, Range Forest Officer, said, “Due flooding of Venna Lake road we have closed major points in Mahableshwar as there are chances of landslide or roads might cave in. Therefore tourist attractions like Arthur seat point, Lodwick point, Lingmala waterfall, Mumbai point (sunset point) among others. There are heavy rains in the area. Hence we have taken this as precautionary measure to avoid any accident”.
