Pune – Member of Parliament (MP) Udyanraje Bhosale on Friday said that the situation of the ongoing agitation for Maratha reservation has not gone out of hands yet. Therefore, the government should take some steps it goes wrong.
He was speaking at a press conference held in Pune on Maratha reservation issue. Maratha reservation has been pending due to lack of political will. Why reservation has not been given even after so many years when nobody opposes Maratha reservation, he questioned.

The Central Government should also show readiness for the Maratha reservation, as much as the readiness shown about the Atrocity Act. Amend the constitution if required. The constitution was written for people. Marathas took out 58 massive rallies across the state but nothing happened then. Now violence is taking place in small rallies. The government must think about it, he added.

Udayan Raje said that we are just expecting equal justice. We will know the opinion of all the coordinators by calling up the Maratha Reservation Council. The decision that will be made at that conference will be the opinion of everyone. For the last 25-30 years there has been only discussions. When there is no opposition for reservation, then why it is pending. Who will be responsible if there is any untoward incident, he further said and asked the government to take immediate action to not allow the situation to go out of control.

When asked if he will lead Marathas for reservation, Udayanraje said that I am not taking this council as MP, the council will give direction to the movement, to give justice to Maratha community. I am bound to give justice to the Maratha community. There should not be violence, damage to public properties, he appealed people not to take the path of violence for reservation.

Without understanding the pain of the Maratha community, the government slapped cases like dacoity. Government should withdraw these crimes against the protesters. Otherwise, there will be disruption in society and no one can stop them. The Maratha community only wants reservation and not violence.
