Marwari Horse Show in Pune

Pune, February 27, 2019: The Marwari horses is a rare breed of horse known for its unique looks, loyalty and bravery in battle. The Horse aficionados of Pune get an opportunity to see the best Marwari Horses at the Venky’s Marwari Horse Show organized by Indigenous Horse Owners Association which will take place at Race Course on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. The show is open for all. There is no entry fee.

Marwari horses when brought together from different state will be a great sight of attraction for the Punekars. There are 6 categories of horses participating in the show like Milk Teeth Filly, Milk Teeth Colt, Two Teeth Filly, Two Teeth Colt, Mare and Stallion. On the concluding day prize will be distributed to the best horse. The information was shared by Ajay Nensee, President, Indigenous Horse Owners Association and Keshav Joshi, Vice President, Indigenous Horse Owners Association.

Another delight of the show is the Marwari horse races. On the first day of the show i.e. March 2, four races will be conducted between 10 am to 11:30 am. The Final race of the tournament will be held on March 3 at 10:30 am.

The British came to India and brought with them their own horse breeds. This in turn destroyed our own indigenous breeds like the Marwari. But nowadays the Horse aficionados are taking special efforts to nurture them in the best possible way. Currently there is a prohibition on the export of Marwari horses to foreign countries. These rare species of horse surely show their talent in the different horse shows held nationwide.
