More companies have started taking proactive approach about CSR funding- Naushad Forbes

Pune, May 14, 2019 : ‘‘In last five years, more and more companies have started to take much more proactive approach about the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funding. As a result of this, they have started to think about how it can make a difference or impact.’’, Said Dr. Naushad Forbes, Co-Chairman, Forbes Marshall and Trustee, Pune International Centre (PIC). He was speaking at the unveiling of a policy paper prepared by PIC, named ‘Governance & Effectiveness of NGOs – The Way Ahead’.

The programme was organized by PIC at Navalmal Firodia Hall on Senapati Bapat Road today. Programme was chaired by Pradeep Bhargava, President, MCCIA. Authors of the policy paper Madhukar Kotwal, Former Member, Board of Directors, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), India, Rajendra Erande, Corporate Advisor, Allied Digital Services Ltd (ADSL), Sridhar Jayaraman, Secretary and Compliance Officer, Bajaj Auto Ltd., Vinayak Kelkar, Lead Corporate Sustainability, Praj Industries Ltd. Along with Hitendra Singh of PIC were present among the dignitaries.

Naushad Forbes said that the next step for the Corporate is to be more strategic about what are the needs of city or the country and how one company can collaborate with other companies to provide those on larger scale. ‘In next five years, we’ll see such more collaborative and strategic approach about CSR funding’, He said.

Pradip Bhargava said that the NGO sector is outstanding, as it is all about clarity of goal, honesty of purpose, vision and tenacity. There are 3.3 Million NGOs in India and this report puts forth some good recommendations about how these institutions can achieve governance and efficiency at the same time.
