Navi Mumbai : Amnesty scheme approved for government tape water connection scheme

Mumbai, May 27, 2019: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has approved ‘amnesty scheme’ for waiver of penalty on delay of outstanding (arrears) for government tap water connections and payment of original water tariff in three installments and in a period of six months for villages under CIDCO in Navi Mumbai region.

Action have been undertaken to recover the outstanding amount of water tariff from the villages of the CIDCO area and the government tap water connection holders. In this connection, some customers have also deposited the outstanding amount with CIDCO. However, some of them have still not paid their outstanding amount. Rs 86.80 crores are outstanding by the end of March 2018 in new Panvel, Kalundre, Kalamboli, Navade, Karanjade, Kamothe, Kharghar, Dronagiri, Ulwe and surrounding villages of Navi Mumbai. Out of this, the amount of Rs. 42.61 crores is pending with the gram panchayat and government offices. Out of this, Rs 16.78 crore is a delay fees, while, Rs 25.83 crore is the principal amount.

Meanwhile, some of Gram Panchayats and government offices have demanded that the fine for delay in payment of the dues should be waived. Accordingly, the board of directors of the CIDCO has prepared the proposal and approved the same. The proposal was sent to the government for its approval. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has approved the proposal.
