Now lodge complaints online, Twitter, Facebook in Pune

As part of its ‘Smart Police for Smart City,’ the Pune city police on Wednesday launched their renovated website, a Twitter handle and a Facebook page to connect with the people.

The renovated website https://punepolice.co.in, Twitter handle @PuneCityPolice and www.facebook.com/PuneCityPolice were inaugurated at the Pune police commissionerate by Pune guardian minister Girish Bapat in presence of MLA Jagdish Mullick, Pune city police Commissioner Rashmi Shukla, joint commissioner Sunil Ramanand.

Since joining Pune police over a month back, Police Commissioner Shukla has taken an initiative to connect with people on social media platforms as well.

Shukla said, “People can put their grievances and suggestions on the website as well Facebook page and Twitter handle. We will respond to the posts quickly. The website will help people find police stations with the help of Google maps. In addition, people can send messages through interactive features on the website.”

Speaking at the inauguration, Bapat added, “Police have an issue of staff crunch and effective use of technology and social media platform can help police in reaching to people in a better way. It can prove a very effective tool in cases of emergencies”.

The website has information about missing, unidentified dead bodies, wanted suspects, information various acts, all the forms needed for permissions and permits. The crime branch of the city police will look after the daily communication through these platforms.
