On girl students demand, cycles will be given in stead of cash amount

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that instead of cash amount, cycles will be given to girl students. A change in the scheme will be effected in this regard. He said that Rs. 183 crore relief will be distributed to drought affected farmers in Sagar district in 10 days. The Chief Minister was addressing villagers and school students in villages under Malthaun tahasil of Sagar district today. Transport Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh Thakur, local MLA and senior officers were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister was informed by school girls of village Bikor Kalan in Sagar district that amount given to purchase cycles is spent on other heads instead of purchasing cycle. On this, the Chief Minister said that now cycles will be given to girl students instead of cash amount and change in the scheme will be implemented from village Bikor Kalan in Sagar district itself. He sought information from students about studies, amount for uniform, books, midday meal and hostel facilities. Shri Chouhan said that earlier, state’s students could not be selected in IIT and IIM, but after arrangements of coaching for UPSC and other competitive exams, 1700 students have been selected during last 2 years. He informed that the state government has made arrangements to provide rent if students rent a house in cities for studies. Shri Chouhan gave assurance to upgrade Bikor Kalan middle school to high school, construction of school building at Malthaun and enquiry into old building struck by lightning, start coaching classes, appointment of maths teacher in government higher secondary school at village Barodiya and construction of bridge over Jamni river.

During direct dialogue with farmers, the Chief Minister apprised himself of crop situation and informed them that Rs. 183 crore relief will be distributed to drought affected farmers in Sagar district in 10 days. The Chief Minister sought information about supply of wheat and rice at the rate of Rs. one per kg to BPL, SC and ST beneficiaries. He directed to investigate sale of fertilizers by private dealers above prescribed rates. The Chief Minister sought information from farmers about khasra, mutation, Fautinama and works under MNREGA.
