Pune – Out of 8.09 lakh tonne sugar export quota set by the central government for factories in Pune district, only 1.8 lakh tonnes sugar have been exported from factories in Pune district by the end of August this year.

Officials said that co-operative factories at Malegaon, Vighnahar, Bhimashankar and private factories Srinath Mhaskoba, Baramati Agro and Parag Agro are the ones who have exported sugar.

The government has announced a subsidy of 55 rupees per tonne to sugar exports due to continuous decline in sugar prices.
