The Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel has been honoured with the World Book of Record Award today at Raj Bhavan for “Padhe Bhopal” programme. Office Bearers of the World Book of Record Committee presented a certificate to the Governor on this occasion.

Congratulating and extending best wishes to the residents of Bhopal, the Governor Smt. Patel said that works carried out with strong will power, coordination and confidence always receive success. We can achieve success in other fields too, if we keep rendering services to the nation and society in the same spirit. She further mentioned that keeping in view this success and interest among the common people; she has decided that a committee will be formed to give suggestions to promote this programme further.

Moreover, Smt. Patel said that there is no lack of talents in children. There is a need to provide them an opportunity. Changes should be brought in education to make children more cultured and virtuous. On this occasion, she encouraged the School and Higher Education Department to make coordinated efforts for health and welfare of the students.

The Vice President of the World Book of Record, UK, Shri Rajeev Sharma stated that the Padhe Bhopal programme was like a yagya. Citizens of Bhopal have carried out an exemplary work by holding this unique programme successfully. He further mentioned that Dr. Radha Krishnan and Swami Vivekanand used to emphasize strongly on reading books.

The importance of book reading cannot be undermined. Expressing the need for making a Pustak Garden in Bhopal, he said that books should be read by transforming it into a subject of joy and interest. The President of the World Book of Record in India Shri Santosh Shukla said that one thousand copies of the book ‘Gandhi Ji ke Satya ke Prayog’ will be presented to Raj Bhavan.

The Commissioner Higher Education Shri Ajeet Kumar said that efforts will be made to organize this programme at division and village level. He laid emphasis to develop a habit of book reading among the children to reduce their interest in watching television. The Commissioner School Education Smt. Jaishree Kiyawat mentioned that the Governor has taken a necessary step by organizing Padhe Bhopal programme as per the interest and desire of the children.

The Vice Chancellors of the Government and Private Universities located in Bhopal, Principals of Academic Institutions, Teachers and Officers of the School and Higher Education department gave presentations at the award programme.
