Paromita Goswami, Pramod Udar receive ‘Dr. Anita Awachat

Smruti Sangharsh Sanman Puraskar’ 2015

Pune, February 3: Paromita Goswami, activist from Chandrapur in alcohol prohibition movement and Pramod Udar, who is away from alcohol addiction for last 25 years and helping other addicts to come out of it, will be awarded with the prestigious ‘Dr. Anita Awachat Smruti Sangharsh Sanman Puraskar’ informed by Mukta Puntambekar, Deputy Director of Muktangan Mitra. Presented by Dr.Anita Awachat Foundation every year, this is the 18th edition of the award.

The award comprises of a memento and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/- and will be bestowed at 10:30amon Sunday, February 7that the S.M. Joshi auditorium located at Navi Peth, Pune at the hands ofrenowned Social Activist Dr. Shaila Dabholkar. Moreover, Dr. Anand Nadkarni will also be interacting with the awardees on this occasion.

Commenting on this, Mukta Puntambekar said, “This will be the 18th year of ‘Dr. Anita Awachat Smruti Sangharsh Sanman Puraskar’ which was instituted in the memory of my mother Late Dr. Anita Awachat. We have been presenting this award to various organisations and individual who are in support of disables and fighting against handicaps and those who are working for social cause. This year the committee of Muktangan decided to recognise the work for anti-liquor movements, hence the award will be given to Paromita Goswami and Pramod Udar.”

She added, “Paromita Goswami, a leader who had campaigned in favour of the liquor ban in Chandrapur district and heads a NGO, ‘Shramik Elgar’ whereas Pramod Udar himself has overcome from alcoholism and from past 25 years and he is helping the alcoholics to fight with this problem.”
