Policeman injured after suspicious car tries to run over in Kothrud
Pune, April 25 : A policeman had a narrow escape when two ‘armed’ persons in a car tried to run over him in Kothrud in the wee hours of Monday. A police officer fired one round at the car but they managed to escape.
The injured policeman has been identified as police naik Kedari.
The incident took place in Shivtirth nagar locality of Kothrud around 4 am. Night round policemen were chasing the car after getting information from control room. The car had already crossed jurisdiction of Hinjewadi, Chatushringi among others.
From Paud road in Kothrud, the car was chased and stopped. When asked to step out the one of the two persons sitting in the car pointed a revolver and threatened to shoot. The car then sped away hitting policeman Kedari.
PSI Prem Waghmare also fired one round at the car but it dint stop and escaped. Later the car was found abandoned near Gopinath Tekdi with deflated tyre. The search is on to find out the two men.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered against the two unidentified persons with Kothrud police station.
Policeman Kedari has sustained injuries in the legs and he is undergoing treatment at Sahyadri hospital Karve road.
