Pune – 2 Sri Lankan women caught smuggling gold worth Rs 30.31 lakhs

Pune – Customs officers of Pune International airport intercepted two lady passengers holding Sri Lankan passports. The two passengers arrived from Singapore by Jet Airways and walked through the Green channel without declaring anything to the Customs.

The lady passengers were carrying 24 carat gold in the form of chain, bangles and biscuits. Total weight is 914.25 gms. Value is estimated at Rs 30,31,937.

The gold has been seized under the reasonable belief that it is being smuggled into India and further investigations are in progress.
