Pune airport: 1657 passengers travel on the first day of domestic flight services
Pune, May 25, 2020: On the first day after the start of domestic flights in lockdown, 1657 passengers were transported by 17 flights, nine arrivals and 8 departure, at Pune airport in Lohegaon. Meanwhile, 12 round trips on Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata routes were cancelled due to insufficient passengers.
Domestic and international flights were suspended on March 25 due to the Coronavirus outbreak lockdown. Domestic flights started. The air traffic on Delhi, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Ahmedabad routes started today. During the day, 8 flights arrived at Lohgaon airport and 8 flights departed, said Kuldeep Singh, director of the airport.
The first IndiGo flight from Delhi arrived on today morning. It had 23 passengers. The health department stamped ‘Home Quarantine’ on the hands of passengers arriving at Pune airport. They have been asked to stay at home for 14 days. Those who were going from Pune were given entry after wearing a mask. Passengers were also given boarding passes without standing in line. The security check-in area was also paying full attention to the social distance among the passengers.
Autorickshaws were provided by CityGlide Auto to take passengers home from the airport as well as from home to the airport. The mobile number 9859198591 has been made available for booking autorickshaw. During the day, about 286 passengers had applied for rickshaws. About 150 passengers have booked autorickshaw for May 26 for travelling from home to airport and airport to home, said Rahul Shitole, chief executive officer of Cityglide Auto.
For domestic flights, the air ticket should be between Rs 3,500 and Rs 10,000, the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has clarified. Accordingly, the airlines will charge Rs 6,000 to 8,000 for Pune-Delhi, Rs 3,800 to 6,000 for Pune-Bengaluru, Rs 8,000 to 9,000 for Pune-Kochi, Rs 4,000 to 5,000 for Pune-Ahmedabad, Rs 6,000 to 8,000 for Pune-Hyderabad and Rs 4,500- Rs 7,500 for Pune-Chennai.
