Pune airport – Now 2.7 kg gold worth Rs 90 lakhs seized

Pune – The officers of customs at Pune international airport intercepted one passenger Ms Dantas Juenca John arrived by spice jet flight no. sg-52 on 18.11.2018.

The personal search of the passenger resulted in the recovery of four (04) polythene bags containing gold in paste form. these polythene bags were concealed by means of support belt around her waist.

The personal search conducted by the officers resulted in the recovery of 2791.43 grams gold valued at Rs 90,44,235. The gold recovered from the above passenger was seized under the reasonable belief that the same was attempted to be smuggled in India and hence liable for confiscation under provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. In her statement recorded under section 108 of the Customs Act, 1962, the passenger admitted the possession, carriage, concealment and recovery of the said gold under seizure. further investigation is under progress.

The team of the officers conducting the search consisted of KR Rama Rao, deputy commissioner, Harshal Mete, deputy commissioner, SS Khaire, SV Zarekar, Satish Sangle and Bhagwan Shinde, Sangeeta Bali, all superintendents, Sushama R Jadhav, Rajendra Meena, Shivaji Valu, Deshraj Meena, all inspectors, SS Nimbalkar, head havaldar.
