Pune: Caterer murdered over a trivial issue, 4 minor boys among 8 held

Pune, May 27, 2020: After a minor altercation, a gang of eight brutally murdered a young catering professional in the open field of Yerwada Mental Hospital. Now Yerwada police have arrested four accused in the case and detained four minors.

The victim was identified as Pratik Hanumant Vannale (27), resident of Panchsheel Nagar, Yerwada. His father Hanumant Vannale (52) has lodged a complaint in this regard with Yerwada police station. The arrested accused have been identified as Rahul Bhosale (19), Tayyab Shaikh (18), both residents of Dhanori, Amin Javed Shaikh (18), resident of Mental Corner, Yerawada and Bachchu Wadanwar (18).

According to police, Pratik Vannale was in the business of catering. Pratik and his friend Efaz Qureshi argued on Monday afternoon. Out of anger over the quarrel, Qureshi along with his friends plotted the murder of Vannale. Qureshi summoned Pratik to the grounds of the Mental Hospital on Monday night. Qureshi and his friends abused and beat up Vannale. He was then stabbed to death with a sharp knife and axe.

After getting information, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Pankaj Deshmukh, ACP Ramchandra Desai, Senior Police Inspector Yunus Sheikh and Police Inspector (Crime) Ajay Waghmare visited the spot. Police arrested three suspects on Monday night and conducted a thorough investigation and nabbed five more people overnight. Four of the eight accused have been arrested and four minor boys have been detained.
