Pune, May 24, 2020: CONNEQT Business Solution Limited (formerly Tata Business Support Services Limited) has reportedly fired 400 employees across various locations. The company has sent advance notice towards redeployment and advised employees that their process is being downsized with immediate effect.

IT employees union National Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has now taken up the matter with concerned government authorities. “We received numerous complaints from the employees of company CONNEQT Business Solution Limited (formerly Tata Business Support Services Limited) that the company has provided employees with redeployment letter and they want employees to leave the jobs.

The company employs over 1000 employees and has given the layoffs letter to more than 400 employees. The employees have to pay loans, EMI, rent, bills and also have to fulfil their basic needs as well in this difficult situation. It has become very difficult for the employees and their families to survive due to this illegal layoffs. National Information Technology Employees Senate NITES has filed an official complaint to the concerned authorities for necessary actions”, said Harpreet Saluja, General Secretary, NITES.

Punekarnews.in has got a copy of the email sent by the company to employees. It states, “This is a difficult time for you and us to receive such news, and we are pursuing discussions to reverse their decision of downsizing. In the meanwhile, we want to assure you that we remain committed to abiding by the call from the Honorable Prime Minister and other statutory orders (State & Central) to pay salary and applicable benefits during the nationwide lockdown.

Due to this downsizing of the process for which you were deployed as per the employment letter dated 5-Jul-2019, we are however compelled to issue this letter as a formal notice intimating that you are on the redeployment pool for 30 days effective 16’h April 2020 to 15th May 2020. During this period, while all possible efforts would be made by us for your redeployment within the organization (subject to your interview clearance) for any probable vacancies that may arise during this period, you would be free to look out for any opportunity outside the organization too.

In case we are unable to redeploy you to any different process, you would be relieved from your official duties effective with full payment of salary & applicable benefits for the period 16th Apr 2020 to 15th May 2020. We acknowledge and thank you for the contributions made to the organization thus far. We would like to reassure you that we are making all efforts to have this decision reversed, and will intimate you if there are updates.”

We have asked the company to clarify their stand on the issue. After their statement is received, this report will be updated.
