Pune – Man filed false FIR of Rs 18 lakhs theft with Kondhwa police

23 MAY 2019, Pune : Within two days after a man lodged FIR with Kondhwa police station, Pune city police, stating that Rs 18 lakhs cash was stolen from his car, he confessed to police that he had given false complaint as he did not want to pay the money for a land deal.

Omprakash Chaudhari (28), a resident of Undri, had stated in his complaint that he had pay the amount to a builder as he and his partner were buying four guntha land from him. However around 1030 am on May 21, when he had parked his car outside his shop named Royal Furnishing near Kubera Colony on NIBM Road. He went inside the shop and when came back after sometime, someone had stolen the two boxes containing cash after breaking the window glass. Hence, he filed complaint with police.

Senior Police Inspector Anil Patil, in-charge of Kondhwa police station, told Punekarnews.in , “ Our detection branch team checked CCTV footages of the spot and route taken by the complainant. We also questioned historysheeters. Looking at our investigation, the complainant approached us and confessed that the cash was not stolen. He did not want to pay the amount, hence he cooked up the false theft theory. We are going to take legal action against him for filling complaint with police.”

Add Commissioner of Police (East region) Sunil Phulari, DCP (Zone 5) Prakash Gaikwad, ACP Milind Patil supervised the investigating team which included Inspector Patil, Inspector (crime) Mahadev Kumbhar, Assistant Police Inspector Chetan More, and policemen Sachin Kalsayit, Umesh Shelar, Rajas Shaikh, Iqbal Shaikh, Vilas Toge, Yogesh Kumbhar, Amit Salunke, Surendra Kolge, Sushil Dheewar, Nilesh Wanve, Sanjiv Kalambe, Kiran More, Jagdish Patil, Umakant Swami and Azim Shaikh.
