Pune Municipal Corporation to use chemical concrete to repair roads, fill potholes

Pune, May 28, 2019 : For the first time, the Pune Municipal Corporation will use chemical concrete to fill potholes and repair roads in the city during monsoon.

Many roads have been dug up by the BSNL, MNGL as well as MSEDCL for various works related to telecom, natural gas and electricity. The civic body has asked these companies to finish their work and reinstate the roads by June 7. After that, PMC will repair potholes with the use of cold mix tar and chemical concrete. The work to repair manhole covers will also be undertaken.

 Road development is one of the key departments of Pune Municipal Corporation. It acts like the life line of the fast growing infrastructure of the city. It is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all the roads that fall within the limits of PMC. In effect, the department is responsible for the development and repair of all DP Roads and Internal Roads.

Construction and maintenance of pavements are also the responsibility of the road development department. Excavation Permission to various cable companies and utility services construction of speed breakers is issued by the road department after receiving the permission from Traffic police Department. Prior scrutiny is done by each request for permission to ensure road safety measures for the general public.

The road department also makes sure road repair works are completed in a timely manner to reduce congestion caused by the ever increasing city traffic and subsequently improve the traffic mobility.
