Pune Police Files FIR against 3 Persons for Home Delivery of Hookah

Pune, May 14, 2020: Three persons have been booked by Pune city police for allegedly doing home delivery of hookah, which is not allowed as per the lockdown rules.  DCP (Crime Branch) Bachchan Singh said, “Offences have been registered against three persons for home delivery of Hookah. Our team has seized six Hookah pots, six tobacco flavour packets, two bikes, four mobile phones etc worth Rs 84,100. Further investigation is going on. The action by Crime Branch will continue.”

DCP Singh said that the accused persons had advertised about home delivery of Hookah. They had also given a phone number to contact. Accordingly, a team led by Police Sub Inspector Nileshkumar Mahadik under the guidance of ACP Shivaji Pawar laid a trap and nabbed the three persons at Kondhwa Talab chowk. An FIR has been registered with Kondhwa police station against Mit Vijay Oswal (19) of Wanwadi Bazaar, Royal Jayaram Madhuram (28) of Lulla Nagar, Kondhwa and Bhagwan Mahesh Thakkar (24) of Bhavani Peth.

They have been charged for offences under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 273 (sale of noxious food or drink) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act, National Disaster Management Act, Maharashtra COVID19 Rules, and Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
