Pune police seize 46 LPG cylinders, arrests 2 persons for overcharging

Pune, March 26, 2020: At a time when people are struggling to get essential supplies, there are many LPG agencies which are selling gas cylinders at exorbitant prices.

DCP (Zone 4) Pankaj Deshmukh said that acting on a tip-off, officials from Khadki police station, nabbed two persons who were caught selling LPG cylinder for Rs 1200 while the actual price is Rs 790.

The incident took place around 11.35 am today near Chhajed Petrol Pump on Bhau Patil Road, Bopodi. The salesmen Narendra Thakur (31) and Vijay Mudliyar (46) had brought the cylinders in two tempos and selling them on the road. Police nabbed them who spilled the beans said that their agency owner and manager had asked them to do so. Police have seized 46 LPG cylinders of Bharat Gas Company, two tempos worth Rs 60,000 and Rs 1200 cash.

Based on a complaint from PSI Amol Bhosale, an FIR has been registered the two delivery person/salesmen and Shrikant Patil (51), owner of Shrinath Gas Agency, Bhau Patil Road, Bopodi, and manager Rushikesh Bhopatkar, for offences under relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act. Police Inspector (crime) Shafil Pathan is further investigating the case.
