2 march 2019, Mumbai: Congress President Rahul Gandhi today addressed thousands of Mumbaikars as he attacked the BJP and PM Narendra Modi in the city ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Rahul Gandhi also promised that the Congress Party will allot houses admeasuring 500 sq. ft to every slum dweller, chawl residents, and those residing in rented houses within 10 days after the party is voted to power.

Addressing the masses Rahul Gandhi said, “PM Modi wants to create two types of India- one comprising of his rich friends of the likes of Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi, Anil Ambani among others and the second one comprising of the poor. PM Modi and his Govt has given loans worth thousands of crores to his ‘rich friends’ but could only waive off loans worth Rs. 3.5 of the poor farmers of the country. How much loans were waived off for the small scale businessmen by this Govt? Why doesn’t the Govt waive off education loans of the students? The Congress Party, if voted to power, will form a Govt which will belong to every citizen of India”.

Attacking the BJP Govt over demonetization and implemenation of GST Rahul Gandhi said, “While the poor were standing in unending queues outside banks for hours post demonetization, the ‘rich friends’ of the Prime Minister were getting their black money converted into white. The small scale businesses are still recovering from the serious blow of demonetization and GST Implementation. Instead of the ‘Made in China’ and ‘Made in Germany’ tags which most of our products carry today, let’s work to bring the ‘Made in Dharavi’ and ‘Made in Mumbai’ labels on these products”.

Former Maha CM Ashok Chavan said, “Winds of change are blowing in Maharashtra and in the country now. The economy of Maharashtra is lagging today. BJP is the Govt of the rich and has very little to do with the poor. I want to tell PM Modi that the BJP will not be voted to power again in the upcoming polls”.

Calling Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s rally a historic one, Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam said, “The state of Maharashtra is being run by two parties today. But the infighting among the BJP- Shiv Sena alliance can clearly be seen ever since they have been voted to power. If Shiv Sena had earlier referred to PM Modi as a ‘thief’, why do they want the same person to the elected as the PM again?  The Govt must list the work done by them in the past four and a half years. Instead of engaging in developmental work, the BJP is interfering in what should the people wear, eat and think.”

Claiming that a scam worth lakhs of rupees has taken place in the Development Plan 2034 Nirupam stated that the Congress Party will thoroughly investigate the issue if voted to power in the upcoming polls. Nirupam also stated that the BJP Govt has been anti- minorities and that those who have suffered will not let the Govt get away with what they have done.

Former Union Minister and former Congress MP Milind Deora said, “Only when we keep our differences aside and work together as a team can we achieve victory”.

The Congress President also stated the Mumbai is the heart and engine of India.

Former Maha CM Prithviraj Chavan, Mumbai Congress Youth President Ganesh Yadav, Congress leaders Chandrakant Handore, Harshavardhan Patil, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil too were present at the rally.
