Rs 2.97 crores spent on Udhav Thackeray’s swearing in ceremony

Mumbai, January 16, 2020 : A total of Rs 2.97 crore was spent on the swearing-in ceremony of the Uddhav Thackeray-led cabinet in Maharashtra. These facts have been revealed in the information sought under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Shiv Sena chief Thackeray was sworn in as Chief Minister on November 28 at Shivaji Park ground in Mumbai. Six other ministers along with him also took oath of office and secrecy. Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP leaders were included in these.

According to information made available to RTI activist Nikhil Chanbhatti of Osmanabad, Thackeray’s swearing-in ceremony cost Rs 2.97 crore. Of this, three lakh rupees were spent only on the decoration of flowers. Chanbhatti had sought details of expenditure incurred on the swearing-in ceremonies of governments during the last ten years.

98.37 lakh rupees were spent on the swearing-in ceremony of Fadnavis government

The oath-taking ceremony of the Devendra Fadnavis government five years ago cost Rs 98.37 lakh. The oath taking ceremony was held at the Wankhede Stadium.
