Run for a cause – NITRROTHON organized by NITRRO Wellness & Fitness Hub and Shri Vasant Davkhare Foundation

Pune witnessed NITRROTHON, a run for a cause organized by NITRRO Wellness & Fitness Hub on March 17 2019. The cause for this run was Girl Child and their slogan for the day was “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.” A crowd of 400 including members and people who believe in the cause ran a route for 10kms, 5kms, and 3kms.

For generations, the girl child has been suffering humiliation, discrimination and oppression at every stage be it education, health, child marriage or female foeticide. But in 2014, on the International Girl Child Day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the eradication of female foeticide as a strict measure to contain this practice. Supporting it, this initiative was taken by Shri Vasant Davkhare Foundation and Nitrro Wellness & Fitness Hub, Pune. PANCHSHIL and Ajeenkya DY Patil University were the sponsors for the event. Prabodh Dhavkare and his wife were strong supporters for this cause and donated computers to the girls of the NGO – Hope for the Girl Child.
Politician Jagdish Mulik, ACP Prabhakar Dhamale, Abhishek Kulkarni, MD, Just Urbane Magazine, Azar Khan, Bollywood Actor and Col Kulwant Singh Kuhad, VSM graced the occasion and felicitated the runners.
Winners:
Harron (1st), Ishak (2nd), and Agnij (3rd) were the winners of the 10kms male.
Nayan (1st), Sheetal (2nd), and Cecile (3rd) were the winners of the 10kms female.
Yogender Singh (1st), L.A. Satyam (2nd), and M A Rahimam (3rd) were the winners of the 5kms male.
Akansha Gaikwad (1st), Pratima Chuhan (2nd), and Nidhi(3rd) were the winners of the 5kms female.
