Sabyasachi Panigrahi emerges champion in the Inter ISC/ ICSE Schools Aquatic Championship 2016

Pune, August 31, 2016: Sabyasachi Panigrahi, a student of Grade VII from VIBGYOR High School, Balewadi achieved remarkable success at the 13th Mumbai Inter ISC/ ICSE Schools Aquatic Championship 2016. The competition was held at The Ozone Club Swimming Pool, Siddharth Nagar, Goregaon (West), Mumbai on August 29 and 30, 2016. The event witnessed participation of over 600 students from various schools across Maharashtra.

Sabyasachi Panigrahi displayed his excellent swimming skills in the Back Stroke style, to secure the first position in both in both 50 metres and 100 metres clocking 37.86 seconds and 1:24:60 minutes respectively. He was awarded two gold medals along with certificates. This is the second consecutive year of such achievement by Sabyasachi. Last year too, he won the first position in 100 metres back stroke and also secured second position in 200 metres individual medley.

Apart from Sabyasachi, two more students from the school achieved victory. Adwika Ramesh secured 3rd place in 100 m back stroke, while Atharva Pai won the 3rd position in both, 50 and 100 metres free style.

Commenting on the achievement, Ms. Surabhi Deshpande, Principal, VIBGYOR High School, Balewadi, said, “I would like to congratulate all my winning students for their success. Sabyasachi is a very talented student and works very hard towards perfecting his skills in the sport. I wish him good luck for his future.”
