Set up a world class multilevel aquarium in Mumbai, CM Uddhav Thackeray directs Tourism Department

Mumbai, 02.Dec.19: “Prepare a proposal to build a world-class multilevel aquarium on the ground of Siam Ocean World in Bangkok to attract tourists from abroad”, directed Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to the senior officials in the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department. He was speaking in a meeting held in the ministry today.

Chief Minister further stated that Mumbai is an international city. To attract tourists from all over the country, you have to develop new tourist destinations. Cruises from abroad are arriving in large numbers at cruise terminals in Mumbai. Now we have to offer different tourism programs for the tourists. In the first phase of development, preparation should be started to set up an international standard multilevel aquarium in the city.

 “We can use beaches in Mumbai for the development of the tourism.  The area of Kanheri Caves, Jogeshwari Caves, Elephanta Caves should be developed in the city. A museum should be set up in the city on the grounds of Madam Tussauds Museum.” advised Mr. Thackeray.

It was also discussed whether night safari can be started in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, development of Sea World, Tourism Street and Flamingo Tourism to boost the tourism of the city, in this meeting.

Chief Minister also reviewed the submarine tourism project in Sindhudurg and gave suggestions on the development of the project in line with international standards. He also said that measures should be taken for the purification of water in Kushwarta at Trimbakeshwar in Nashik district and sanitation of Lonar lake.

Overall development of Raigad

The Chief Minister took a detailed review of the project taken for the preservation and conservation of Raigad fort and development of the area. The Raigad development plan of Rs 5 crore approved by the Raigad Development Authority.

“After completion of this project, tourists from all over the country will know more about proud history of Shivaji Maharaj and the local people will get good opportunities of employment” said honorable Chief Minister.

MLA Aditya Thakre, Principal Secretary Ajay Maheta, Principal Secretary Bhushan Gagrani, Tourism Department Secretary Vinita Singal, MTDC Managing Director Abhimanyu Kale, Tourism Director Dilip Gawde, Director of State Archeology Department Tejas Gargay, Dhananjay Savalkar, Director of Tourism were present on the occasion.
