Shiv Chhatrapati awards will be distributed on birth anniversary of Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj : Ajit Pawar

Mumbai, January 21, 2020:- The Shiv Chhatrapati awards will be distributed on the birth anniversary day of Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This information was given by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, today.

He was speaking at the review meeting in Mantralaya organized by the sports and youth welfare department. Sports and youth welfare Minister Sunil Kedar, Minister of state for sports and youth welfare Kumari Aditi Tatkare were also present on the occasion.

Speaking further Mr Pawar said that for encouraging the sports person in the state, modern Sports Complex, meal allowances given to the players, tracksuit, the journey allowances for National and international competitions, infrastructure facilities and more funds for purchasing Sports Equipment as compared to last year will be made available, this year. He also said that the amount to be given to the Maharashtra Olympic Association should be disbursed with immediate effect. He said that the Shiv Chhatrapati awards will be bestowed upon the winners on the day of birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The deputy chief minister further said that there is 5 percent reservation in recruitments and the sub junior and junior group are given different status. He said that the group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ categories for school competitions are created and due to this, the players of Maharashtra had to face huge loss. He said that the same status will be given in the 5 percent reservation to school competition and competitions organized by State sports organization. The Minister also said that like other states, the Maharashtra Olympic Bhavan will also be constructed in the state and as a part of this, the space available in Balewadi was inspected. He said that all out efforts will be made to give grant for this Olympic Bhavan. Mr Pawar also said that International trainer will be provided for training the players by State sports organization.

Speaking on the occasion, sport and youth welfare Minister Sunil Kedar said that it is essential to play games for good health. He said that the student should participate in various format of sports right since their school life. He said that if your health is good, only then can good thoughts get strengthened. He also said that best facilities will be provided to the sports person of the state. Stating that the maximum figure of youth in the world is in India, he lamented that these youth are entangled in the net of social media and other internet options. He said that department is going to launch a new scheme for bringing the youth out of this net, assuring that he himself will be active in this noble cause.

Minister of state for sports and youth affairs Kumari Aditi Tatkare said that more funds should be provided for completion of sports complex at Taluka level. She also said that the funds given to facilitate the sports person from rural areas should also be increased.

Additional chief secretary of school education and sports department Vandana Krishna, commissioner of sports department Om Prakash Bakoria, General Secretary of Maharashtra Olympic Association Balasaheb Landge, under Secretary A R Rajput, assistant director Subhash Patil and others were also present during this review meeting.
