SIAM organises workshop on ‘Future Technology and Regulations for Automobiles’
12th October, 2017, Pune: Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures (SIAM), in association with Transport Department of Government of Maharashtra, organized a workshop on Future Technology and Regulation for automobile in Pune today.
The objective of the workshop was to give knowledge on future technologies and regulation for automobiles in India to transport department officials, Government of Maharashtra. Special emphasis was put on promoting future emission, safety and hybrid & electric vehicles regulations.
The inaugural session was commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Naveen Soni, President, Society for Automotive Fitness & Environment (SAFE), an initiative by SIAM. During his address to the trainees, Mr. Soni, said, “SIAM and SAFE have been constantly working towards formulizing standards and regulations for automobiles. The automobile industry and the government have been proactively supporting the latest advancements of automobile technology. Safety and environment are two of the most critical challenges faced by the automotive industry not only in India but across the world. Thus the idea of these workshops is to address these challenges and focus on making vehicles safe by introducing state of art technologies.”
On this occasion, Mr Diwakar Raote, Hon’ble Minister of Transport & Khar Land Development, Maharashtra, said“This training program is being organized so that our officers are updated with current technology and regulations of our vehicles. This training would also help the officers to introspect and understand what they have been lacking so far and going ahead how they can improve themselves. It will help the officers to make use of latest technology and new systems in their daily jobs more effectively.”
Guest of Honour, Mr Manoj Saunik, IAS, Principal Secretary, Transport Department, Government of Maharashtra,during his address, said “There is a great need for conducting such training sessions from time to time as it offers the opportunity to discuss, interact, help clear confusion and work cohesively. The need of the hour is to overcome technological challenges and work towards making road transport safe. We should thus effectively utilize such forums to mentally engage with our jobs and come up with various methods to improvise our daily activities and be able to make positive contribution towards improving conditions for bringing down the road fatalities. I would like to thank SIAM-SAFE for organizing this workshop in Maharashtra”
The workshop held technical sessions where they highlighted Future Safety & Emission Regulations for Automobiles,Road Accident Analysis, Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Regulations, Rule 62, by industry leaders from Maruti, Tata Motors, Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), and International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT). The event also showcased select vehicles with advanced technology to provide a better understanding to the trainees of the workshop. The vehicles showcased at the workshop were selected from each category to ensure all segments get covered. Bajaj Auto Ltd. displayed three wheelers, Maruti Suzuki India Ltddisplayed passenger cars, Tata Motorsdisplayed electric buses and trucks andForce Motors Ltd. displayed tempo travellers.
On this occasion, two books developed by Transport Department official on road safety were also launched by the dignitaries.
The event would be concluded by certificate distribution ceremony to around 600 trainees who will be attending the workshop over these two days.
