Silent Sit-In Dharna Held at Mount Carmel Convent High School

A silent sit-in Dharna was organized by the Catholic Association of Pune in the school premises to protest against the atrocities, disrespectful and violent attacks, Morchas, attacking the security men, disobeying the rules  and destroying the school property by some political parties of the locality.  They have been demanding for 10 to 15 admissions in the school in spite of  big numbers like 70 to 75 in the classes.

The students of the high school and junior college accompanied by the members of  staff, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the Alumini, religious (Priests and Sisters) participated whole heartedly in support of the school against the unwanted trauma and violence against the Management because of not meeting their exorbitant demands for admission into the overcrowded classes.

The members of the Catholic Association of Pune expressed their views and concern in this regard.  The President Mr. Joe Kasbe, Ex Vice President, Mrs. Judy Menezes, Mrs. Iyer member of the Mount Carmel Alumini Association, ex-teacher Mr. S. Kamble   Nitin D’souza, President Christian Minority Cell and Mr. Pramod Parade member of the Catholic Association expressed their solidarity and whole hearted support to the school in their fight against injustice, disrespect to the girl children and the lady staff.

The students enthusiastically came forward and gave their heartfelt insight into the problems that they are facing in their overcrowded classrooms. They also sang motivational songs like ‘We Shall Overcome’, Hum ko Man ki Shakti dena’. Mrs. Judy Menezes an ex Carmalite gave a tremendous boost to the students and empowered them to stand up for their rights.

 We also thank the Kondhwa Police team for their presence and extended support at all times to the school.
