Hyderabad, 21st April 2016: When Mindspace. Hyderabad’s premier IT Park, launched its CSR initiative in the space of education, christenedTeaching Tree; they encouraged employees to come forward with non-monetary assistance. At this time, little did they expect such stupendous support. Donate Books – spread over two weeks has seen a collection of books in a couple of thousands, creating an excellent start for setting up of libraries at the schools adopted.

Settled atop the Teaching Tree branded truck, the children were pleasantly surprised with the huge collection of books covered under a green satin cloth, which they unveiled themselves. The students echoed, “Our holidays have now become a perfect time to read books. For the first time we have seen so many story books together, we are confused which one to pick first. We love books and this vacation we are going to spend time reading them. We are extremely happy and we thank all the bhaiyas and didi’s for supporting Teaching Tree.”

The children in their blue uniforms and flanked by two very colourful dhol-walas made for an entourage which gathered much attention, as they drove around the campus waving at employees and thanking them for their generosity. That the school vacations have begun did not deter the kids from coming to Mindspace to collect their stash of book.

Donate Books, the first community-engagement initiative by Teaching Tree will accentuate libraries of six low-income schools adopted by Mindspace as part of its CSR initiative.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Shrawan Kumar Gone, Director Operations, K. Raheja Corp said, “Books are very integral to a child’s education, and we are overwhelmed and encouraged by the generosity of our clients and employees. The campus has come out to showcase their full support, which fortifies our endeavour to move forward and continue to strive to undertake more such initiatives, in the space of education through Teaching Tree.”

Speaking about the event, Karthik Rapaka, City Director, Hyderabad – Teach For India said, “The outcome of the Donate Books drive has been extremely encouraging.
