Suryadatta National School student shines at NASA International Design Contest

Suryadatta National School’s Xth student Ms. Tapaswini Sharma has been  invited by NASA to attend the 36th Annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC) in St. Louis, USA.

Tapaswini Sharma student of Std X of Suryadatta National School, who participated in the prestigious NASA Space Settlement Design Contest-2017 in the INDIVIDUAL category, won the Honorable Mention Award at the Competition, for her project ‘Kirithra Orbis”, from over 6000 project entries received across the globe.

The Annual contest was organised by NASA Ames Research Center, San Jose State University, and the National Space Society (NSS) worldwide and in various categories. With the support and encouragement from the school Tapaswini Sharma developed Kirithra – her space settlement design as a honeycomb shaped space settlement which aimed to help humanity dive further into space. This spaceship can house people in thousands as its citizens. It’s structure helps it to become efficient and occupy maximum volume for minimum area. The space settlement uses only alternate sources of energy to perform basic and complex tasks required for human survival. It is designed for space exploration along with economic stability.

Tapaswini has been invited by NASA to attend the 36th Annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC) in St. Louis, USA where she will be attending all the special activities planned for contestants.

The Secretary & Vice President of  Suryadatta Group of Institutes, Mrs. Sushama Chordiya, congratulated Tapaswini and her parents on her brilliant achievement. She said that there was need for more such Space centres in all the four regions of our country. Students should be given exposure to visit the space centres and become aware of careers in Aeronautics.

Suryadatta National School, while providing World Class Education to the students also encourages them to develop creative and lateral thinking. The Students regularly participate in such Competitions at National and International Levels.
