Swachhathon 1.0 : Mumbai Curtain Raiser
Swachhthon 1.0 took off in grand style in Mumbai in the presence of Hon. Minister Shri Baba rao Lonikar saheb.
Hon. Shyam Lal Goyal ji, ACS, Mrs. V. Radha, JS MoDWS and Mr. Sudhendra Kulkarni of ORF, Mrs. Rajeshwari of UNICEF graced the occasion.
The event was an open call to everyone to share solutions regarding 6 themes under discussions.
1.Technological solutions to monitor usage of toilets
2.Technological solutions for bringing behavioural change for toilet usage and hygiene
3.Innovative, sustainable, environment-friendly and affordable toilet technology for hilly, dry, flood-prone and remote areas.
4.Innovative models and methods to improve the operation and maintenance of school toilet
5.Innovative solutions for Menstrual Heath Management
6.Innovative solutions for early decomposition of faecal matter
The event had 3 break out session 1 : Toilet technology and real time/ICT based monitoring 2 :Socio Behaviour Change Communication 3 :MHM, O&M of school and Anganwadis, community toilets. This was followed up by a plenary.
The participants and practitioners provided the mix of innovative ideas and ground truths. The break out sessions were followed by a plenary to capture all the ideas discussed. There was rich sharing of ideas and thoughts.
ACS mentioned that similar events be organized in future to bring forward ideas and to initiate action on those ideas.
The best practices , the innovative ideas and solutions shared in the event will be participating in Swachhathon, the Swachhathon bharat hackathon to crowds source solutions, hosted at (https://innovate.mygov.in/
The whole curtain raiser program was planned,organized and supported by Observer Research Foundation.
Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Government of Maharashtra , Observer Research Foundation , UNICF, Tata Trust, NGOs, Innovators , incubators and accelerators joined hands with MoDWS, GoI to make swachhathon a grand success.
