Talking on phone Army officer wife car hits three; one killed

Pune, July 5, 2016 : Pune police have booked wife of an Army officer for allegedly driving her car rashly which hit three women, resulting in death of one of them.

The incident took place around 2 pm on Tank road in Khadki cantonment on Tuesday.

However Pune police were informed over five hours later.

The deceased has been identified as Nanda Ramdas Pardeshi (50) and the injured persons are Sulochana Pardeshi (50) and Shakuntala Kanchi (56). They worked on contract basis at bungalows of senior officers of Ammunition Factory Khadki (AFK) including Mula House, the residence of senior general manager of the factory.

Police have identified the accused driver Ambika, wife of Lt Colonel Dev Mohan.

Police said that she was driving Honda Amaze  car which hit the women while they were walking along roadside. The injured women were rushed to hospital where Nanda succumbed to her injuries.

Police officials said that the incident took place when the driver was reportedly talking on phone and lost balance on the wheels.

Khadki police have booked the woman driver for causing death due to negligence, rash driving under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act. The car has been seized by police.
