TATA Genuine Parts’ Gurukshetra finale concluded at Pune

Pune. November 18, 2015. The Gurukshetra, the contest among the Mechanics of TATA Genuine Parts concluded yesterday with a grand finale here. The Gurukshetra challenge is a platform for the mechanics from the After-Market Garages around the country working on vehicles made by Tata Motors Limited to showcase their skills and talent besides updating themselves with dynamic market requirements and changes in various models of vehicles. This year, about 59,000 mechanics from over 12000 retail points participated in the contest. Gurukkshetra was won by Harpal Singh Babra, Mahesh Saha and Pavan TG as winner, first runner up and second runner up respectively.

TATA Genuine Parts together with ExxonMobil, the official collaborator organises Gurukshetra, a 3-level contest across India. Over 600 Gurus, as the mechanics are referred, were shortlisted for the second round and 20 among them made it to the finals held at TATA Motors Training Centre at their Pimpri plant yesterday.

The finale and the award ceremony were attended by Sanjeev Garg, Global Head Customer Care, Avinash Gupta, Head, TATA Genuine Parts and Aggregates and Jaideep Matkar, Head Retail Sales. Also present was Rupinder Paintal, General Manager, OEM, ExxonMobil. Speaking on the occasion Sanjeev Garg said, “The objective of organising Gurukshetra was to support our Gurus by giving them a platform that has never been given to them. By competing against each other and showcasing their skills, we at TATA Genuine Parts can give them the required training to keep them abreast with the latest technologies introduced in the TATA vehicles and be able to service them better.”

“This is the first year of Gurukshetra and we are giving away cash prizes to the winners. We intend to make it even larger the next year and also take it international”, added Avinash Gupta.”

Jaideep Matkar said “These Gurus are an important part of our ecosystem as they have access to genuine parts which help them to keep the TATA vehicles running smoothly without much downtime”.

The winner Guru Harpal Singh was elated. He said, “This is a huge honour for me and all the Gurus who have been associated with TATA Genuine Parts. Winning the contest will go a long way to boost my confidence and also impact my business. The trophy will have an important place at my garage.”
