Tata Motors Partners with College of Engineering Pune for Industry Ready Resources

Pune, March 15, 2016: Tata Motors and College of Engineering Pune (COEP) have entered into a technical partnership to collaborate on areas of mutual benefit and interest. Series of interventions have been identified to cater to a future-ready organization.

Mr. Gajendra Chandel, Chief Human Resource Officer, Tata Motors Ltd., and Dr. B B Ahuja, Director, COEP, signed a five year MoU, with an objective to prepare for the talent needs of the automotive industry of the future. Under this MoU, Tata Motors and COEP would undertake collaborative research, live projects, faculty capability building, blended learning for students right from year one to ensure that they are industry ready from day one of joining across engineering streams.

Speaking on this associationMr. Gajendra ChandelChief Human Resources Officer, Tata Motors, said “With years of cadre hiring, it has been observed that students take well over a year to be job ready. Handpicking talent early, nurturing and mentoring them will help transition talent effectively and smoothly to the corporate world helping bridge the talent gap of the automotive industry. We intend to have a good blend of academic excellence along with industry insights through various interventions. As we are competing in a globalised business environment, these steps will help us in making Tata Motors future ready.”

 

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. B B Ahuja, Director, COEP, said, “We are extremely happy on this partnership and are looking forward to our journey ahead on various collaborations. We look forward to advancing knowledge as well as industry practices through the collaboration. The partnership will enable our institute to garner the best industry know-how as well as help students to meet the challenges of their corporate life through live projects, guest lecture series etc.”

This partnership will involve Tata Motors leveraging on one of the best academic talent in the country. It will help the company strengthening the industry readiness of the talent stepping out of campuses through curricula building, live projects and various engagement interventions.

These series of Industry Academia Partnerships help support the Government’s “make in India program” preparing the Indian Industries to compete at a global platform. In its transformation journey, Tata Motors has clearly charted its technology roadmap. The Company has identified areas of excellence and to meet these requirement, it plans to create talent pool and be the destination of choice for automotive engineering professionals.
