Tata Power signs MoU with Central Board of Irrigation & Power to bridge the skill-gap in power sector

National, 10th October 2017: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, today announced that the Company has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Central Board of Irrigation & Power (CBIP) to co-create, develop, and impart training and skill-development courses to the youth as well as employees of the power sector.

CBIP runs a Centre of Excellence for skill development in the power sector, while Tata Power has set up five training hubs in five locations in the country which includes Shahad – Mumbai, Maharashtra; Trombay – Mumbai, Maharashtra; Maithon – Dhanbad, Jharkhand, Mundra – Kutch, Gujarat and Jojobera – Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

As per the MoU, CBIP will provide access to Tata Power to their vast library of Periodicals, Technical Information & Database, Information on technological developments, and state-of-the-art technologies. Tata Power, in return, will provide guidance to CBIP in setting up labs and other required infrastructure for up gradation of the COE. Both the parties, per the business scenario and need analysis, will prepare an Annual training calendar & Plan, and employees would be nominated for these trainings as per individual need.

CBIP has an expertise in Power, Water and Renewable Energy Sectors, and is inter alia engaged in Dissemination of technical knowledge and information, and providing training & consultancy in the areas of Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Water Resources and Renewable energy. CBIP is an accredited training partner of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC), and Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ). It plans to upgrade its Centre of Excellence in association with PSSC and SCGJ by having part funding from the Power sector PSUs.
