Pune, 2 Oct. – Pune, the cultural capital of Maharashtra, has no dearth of Urdu connoisseurs. Especially the aficionados of Urdu language, with its sher-o-shayari and gazals, are in abundant numbers. The Urdu language has a delicateness of its own with an unmatched capacity to express the emotions like love, yearning and estrangement. These connoisseurs are in for a treat on coming 8 October with an evening dedicated for the Urdu gazals.

 The organization ‘Saaz Pune’ is bringing programs of Urdu gazals to the connoisseurs with a variety of concepts. The organization has been successful bringing to fore the beauty of the Urdu while keeping its traditional flavor intact and presenting the Urdu gazals with a certain tenderness. All the artists of Saaz are adept at presenting the famous and not-so famous gazals of noted shayars in an extremely delightful form.

 The artists like Dr. Shashikala Shirgopikar, Mrs. Gayatri Sapre-Dhavale, Mrs. Shruti Karandikar and Shri. Kumar Karandikar have contributed to the success of the ‘Saaz Pune’. They have presented programs like Ishq Nahin Asaan, Door Hain Manzil, Tasavvoor, Gulon Mein Rang Bharen, Dil Ki Baat till today which have gained popularity and acclaim because of their content based on specific concepts. Galib Se Faiz Tak, the program of ‘Saaz’ running currently, is gaining popularity and has attracted the attention of lovers of Urdu gazals.

 Tohfa-E-Gazal, the next in the line of the above program, will take place in Pune at 6.00 PM onSaturday, 8 October. The program will take place in the Savitribai Phule Sanskritik Bhavan (Bhavani Peth).

It is produced by ‘Saaz’ and sponsored/presented by Ishak Jaffar. The program will see the popular gazals sung by singers like Ustad Mehendi Hasan, Begum Akhtar Sahiba, Abeda Parvin, Farida Khanam, Jagjeet –Chitra Singh besides some new gazals as well. The gazals will be sung by Dr. Shashikala Shirgopikar, Mrs. Gayatri Sapre-Dhavale, Mrs. Shruti Karandikar and Shri. Kumar Karandikar. Dr. Sunil Keshav Deodhar will compeer the event while Arun Gawai will play tabla and Kumar Karandikar will play the harmonium.
