TREE PLANTATION DRIVE AT NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY (NDA)

Pune, July 31, 2019 : National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla covers an area of around 6700 acres, a major portion of which has dense vegetation cover making it ideal for Military Training. This green cover not only provides habitat to wild life but also facilitates fresh and pollution free environment. A tree plantation drive was organised on 30 July 2019 to ensure desired afforestation for naturally falling trees. Besides contributing towards preservation and development of flora and fauna at NDA, this initiative is also aimed at initiating the cadets in this field and promoting the sense of responsibility towards nature. Commandant NDA, Air Marshal IP Vipin, and the entire NDA community participated and planted 1425 saplings. The Army Public School, Army Pre Primary School, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Aruna Chaudhary Madhyamik Vidyalaya located inside NDA also participated in this tree plantation drive.

 

Air Marshal and Mrs IP Vipin, led the plantation drive by planting saplings at various locations. The Commandant NDA commended the efforts put in by all for having participated in such large numbers in this onerous drive and termed it as the best gift to the next generation.He emphasised that flora and fauna is an integral part of our life and it is imperative for every one of us to contribute in maintaining ecological balance.He urged everyone to take care of saplings to ensure their survivability.

 

A special drive was also undertaken to clear the campus of all non biodegradable waste.
