Tree plantation on Riagad fort area will be done through EGS – Minister Jaykumar Rawal

Mumbai,15 June.19: “Social Forest Department will conduct the tree plantation at Raigad fort, in its surrounding area and on connecting roads through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA),” informed Minister of Employment Guarantee Scheme, Jayakumar Raval.

He was speaking in a meeting held at Ministry Office, in this concern.

Mr. Rawal further informed that orders have been sent to the District Collector and Konkan Divisional Commissioner through the EGS Department to provide employment to local EGS labors, under this scheme. It would give work to labors and help to develop and beautification of roads in the historic heritage of Raigad Fort.

He further stated that various works have been undertaken under the employment guarantee scheme. Through this, there is a large number of employment generation in the state. The work of cleaning and conservation of the forts of the state can also be done through EGS. The campaign for the conservation of the fort has been undertaken through this medium. Various types of works are being undertaken for cultivation of trees, beautification of roads, conservation and forts.

Instructions have been given to the concern department for tree plantation and conservation in new line of new roads in Raigad Fort. In coordination with Raigad Development Authority, the Collector has arranged the plantation and maintenance work and ordered to submit the report to the government.
