Viman Nagar runs against drug abuse and illicit trafficking

Pune : 26th June was observed as a day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

The event was supported by Viman Nagar Resident Association (VNRA). The Viman Nagar chapter of Pune Running call themselves Runway.

They organised a run on this day which saw a whopping 1060 participants of which more than 25 were kids of Vikhe Patil School. The most attractive part of this event was age factor which was completely defied. Runway had runners below 10 on one hand and above 60 on the other. Conspicuous participants of the event gracefully finished the targeted runoff in their respective categories.

The event was flagged off by the DCP Kalpana Barawkar of Zone 4 early at 5:30 am. The day began with a warm up before the run and ended with a stretch routine. The officials of the Narcotics department also attended the event to flag it off.

Overall the day was inspiring and fruitful for everyone who followed the event and VNRA urged more and more people to conscious towards a healthy and drug free life. They also appealed to avoid all sort of trafficking.

Banners of drug abuse and illicit trafficking highlighted the cause of the event. Refreshments and water was arranged by Runway people and their volunteers were stationed at every turn and earmarked route to take care of the participants.

VNRA is looking forward to be a part of more these kind of events and lends its support, cooperation and participation in future.
